Dalton Knecht has accepted a two-way contract with the Knicks. The Lakers waived him a few days before. The news comes from his agents, via ESPN’s Shams Charania.
There’s one detail. The Knicks have three two-way spots, all taken. They have to clear one to finalise. A deal announced before the box is free. At our place, nobody goes on the sheet until the line is empty. Twelve lines. Not thirteen. The clock doesn’t argue. Neither do I.
I looked at his numbers, because that’s what I look at. Picked seventeenth in the 2024 draft. Seventy-eight games in the first season. Fifty-four in the second, at ten minutes a game. Those are minutes. They’re on a sheet somewhere, signed by two captains. After that, nobody goes back over them.
Cleveland, Sacramento and Minnesota had also shown interest, according to Charania. I don’t note interest. I note what’s signed.
And who tells the one going out, Martine?
That’s not the table’s job. For now, on my sheet: contract announced, spot not cleared, ball at the table.
It’s true, we checked: Eurohoops.
