Eurohoops reports that Joey and Jesse Buss hold exclusive negotiating rights to buy the LDLC ASVEL from Tony Parker, until the first days of November. Until then, nobody else has the right to step into the deal.
The club is one of the thirteen EuroLeague shareholders and is on its way to becoming a franchise. The possible collaboration between the EuroLeague and the NBA weighs on the talks, again according to Eurohoops, which notes that the value of European clubs is only a fraction of the sums mentioned when NBA franchises change hands.
Darnell rang Indiana on Sunday, after dinner. He had read the piece before his nine o’clock under-10s, and he says he read it again afterwards, to be sure he had understood the word window.
I explained to my mother that two people have the right to be the only ones talking about buying a French club until the first days of November. She asked what exclusive meant. I said: nobody else can speak before them. Let me tell you, that took me back to 2000. I arrived in Charleroi with a bag and a one-year contract. Nobody had exclusive rights on me, there was no deadline, no window: there was a coach in the car park and a hall with badminton lines on the floor, and heating that had its moods. My mother asked who has the exclusivity on me now. I said: my wife, since 2001, and it has never been renegotiated. She said: see?
Then she asked whether anyone had played defence. I said this wasn’t that kind of article, that it was an article about a date in November. She thought that was a long wait. I told her it was normal: here, when something moves forward, we check first, we wait for the date, and then we say not bad. Waiting your turn and not speaking before the others, that’s fundamentals too.
Eurohoops says the ASVEL is not the only EuroLeague club sale under way.
It’s true, we checked: Eurohoops.
