Jasmine Bailey, of Chartres, is suspended by the FFBB. Reason: the accumulation of technical fouls received during the 2025-2026 season. Not one foul. An accumulation. I note the nuance.
The federation relies on article 1.1.15 of its disciplinary regulations, which says that “any person (natural or legal) who has accumulated several Group 1 technical fouls (improper conduct) may be sanctioned”. Several. The regulations don’t give the number, and neither does the source. Neither do I, then. For us, a technical is a letter in a box, in red biro, and the box stays there until the end of the season. Nobody looks at it. Then one Wednesday evening, someone at the provincial committee adds it up with the others.
Result: barred from the Boulangère Wonderligue until 22 October. Five games in all, including the first two rounds, Bourges on the 7th, Angers on the 10th, Villeneuve-d’Ascq on the 18th. The club announced it a few hours before hosting Charnay on Sunday. Seventy-two to eighty-eight, it’s on the sheet.
Chartres did not appeal. The club says it wants to “respect the decision handed down by the competent disciplinary body of the FFBB”. The sheet doesn’t ask to be liked. It asks to be signed.
She will be able to play in the EuroCup, at Namur, in ten days. Different competition, different sheet. The boxes don’t travel.
“Namur’s right next door to me, mind you. If she comes, I’ll applaud her, and I’ll leave the sheet to Martine.”
Group 1, improper conduct, column full. Player resting until the 22nd. It’s on the sheet.
It’s true, we checked: BeBasket.
